Complete & Award

Complete & Award is the single-tap action that closes the night and writes everything — OAS progress, PAL credits, and logbook entries — to every present Scout’s profile.

How it works

  1. Tap Complete & Award in the sticky footer of the Active Night.
  2. The review modal opens with the prompt: “How did it go?”
  3. Write a brief review note (e.g. “Great energy. Lashings still wobbly — revisit next term.”).
  4. Check the logbook preview if your event has adventurous activities — it shows how many present Scouts will receive each logbook entry.
  5. Tap Complete & Award to confirm.

What gets written

For every present Scout who hasn’t been overridden:

  • OAS progress — each targeted requirement is marked complete on the Scout’s profile. If a requirement has a global key (like First Aid), the completion cascades to every stream that shares it.
  • Badge status — Tussock recomputes the badge state for each affected stage. If all requirements in a stage are now complete, the badge moves to Earned.
  • PAL credits — the Scout’s Participate, Assist, or Lead role for this event is recorded as a Milestone credit.
  • Logbook entries — one per adventurous activity per Scout, with the OAS stream, duration, and distance from the event’s activity details.

Logbook auto-population

When your event has adventurous activity details (set in Step 2 of the wizard), Tussock auto-creates logbook entries for every present Scout at completion time. The entries include:

  • OAS stream — e.g. Bushwalking, Paddling, Camping
  • Duration — days, nights, and hours
  • Distance — kilometres (where applicable)

Logbook counts can also auto-satisfy cumulative OAS requirements. For example, if a requirement says “Complete 3 bushwalking activities”, and this logbook entry brings a Scout’s total to 3, the requirement is automatically marked complete.

After completion

  • A toast confirms how many logbook entries were written and any OAS requirements auto-completed.
  • If the logbook write failed, a toast advises: “Awards saved, but logbook entries couldn’t be written. Edit the event and press Continue on the Tags step to retry.”
  • The event status changes to Completed and moves out of the active view.

Unit Council flow

When Unit Council ratification is enabled for your Group, the flow changes:

  • Awards route to Earned Pending Council instead of Earned.
  • The button reads Send to Council instead of Complete & Award.
  • A callout in the review modal explains: “N Scouts will queue for council ratification on N reqs.”
  • The Unit Council (Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders) then reviews and ratifies the awards in a Council session.
