Milestones & PAL
Milestones are earned through PAL (Participate, Assist, Lead) credits accumulated at events. Every time a Scout attends an event and you run Complete & Award, their PAL role for that event is recorded as a credit.
PAL roles
Section titled “PAL roles”| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Participate | The default. The Scout took part in the activity. |
| Assist | The Scout helped run part of the activity. |
| Lead | The Scout led a significant portion of the activity. |
Every Scout defaults to Participate. Leaders pre-assign Assist and Lead roles in Step 4 of the event wizard, and can adjust them on the fly during the Active Night by tapping the PAL pill.
How credits accumulate
Section titled “How credits accumulate”Each event attendance earns one credit of the assigned type (P, A, or L). Credits are tracked per Scout per term and are tied to Challenge Areas — so a credit earned at a “Community” night counts toward the Community pillar of the Milestone.
Viewing Milestones
Section titled “Viewing Milestones”The Milestones view (under Reports) offers three lenses:
- By Scout — per-Scout cards showing total vs target credits, a colour-coded bar (blue = Participate, accent = Assist, green = Lead), and a breakdown with dots (P · N, A · N, L · N). Scouts who’ve met their target show a Ready badge.
- By Role — aggregate totals for Participate, Assist, and Lead across all Scouts.
- By Section — per-section summary with ready count, total count, and average progress percentage.
Peak Awards
Section titled “Peak Awards”Milestones are one pillar of each section’s Peak Award:
| Section | Peak Award |
|---|---|
| Joey | Joey Scout Challenge Award |
| Cub | Grey Wolf Award |
| Scout | Australian Scout Award |
| Venturer | King’s Scout Award |
| Rover | Baden-Powell Scout Award |
Peak Awards aggregate multiple pillars: Milestones, OAS stages, SIA completions, Adventurous Journey, Personal Reflection, and (for some sections) a Personal Development Course.
The Peak Awards page shows per-Scout pillar progress with pip strips and drill-down detail. When all pillars are complete, an Award button appears.
