Skills & Awards

Tussock tracks the three pillars of the Scouts Australia award framework:

  • Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) — a 9-stage progression matrix across 9 streams, with granular requirement checkboxes and cross-stream mapping.
  • Special Interest Areas (SIAs) — bespoke individual projects with categories, hour logs, and goal tracking.
  • Milestones — credits earned through Participate, Assist, and Lead roles at events.

All three feed into each section’s Peak Award (Joey Scout Challenge, Grey Wolf, Australian Scout Award, King’s Scout Award, or Baden-Powell Scout Award).

Every achievement in Tussock moves through a state machine:

State Meaning
In Progress Some requirements done, more to go
Earned All requirements met — badge ready to present
Earned Pending Council Queued for Unit Council ratification (when enabled)
Awarded Badge physically handed to the Scout

Earned badges appear in the Pending Awards report so you know what to hand out at the next ceremony.
