Scout Portal

The Scout Portal is the youth-facing view of Tussock. Scouts access it at the same URL as leaders (tussock.group) — the app shows the Scout perspective based on their role.

How Scouts get access

A leader invites a Scout via the youth invite flow (Group > Invite youth). The Scout receives a magic link, authenticates, and gains access to their own profile.

What Scouts see

Home

Section titled “Home”

A personalised dashboard showing:

  • Greeting with today’s date and current term week
  • Identity chips showing their section and patrol (including their patrol role — PL, APL, or PM)
  • Next event card with title, date, location, and attendance status
  • Term summary — large numerals for Participated, Assisted, and Led counts, plus total nights
  • Closest stage — the OAS stage they’re nearest to completing, with a progress circle (e.g. “4/7”)

Events

Section titled “Events”

A chronological list of events with attendance status (Going, Not going, Awaiting). Entirely read-only — Scouts cannot RSVP or mark their own attendance.

Tapping an event shows its details, including the Challenge Area, SPICES domains, and any OAS requirements that count toward their progression.

Skills

Section titled “Skills”

Four tabs:

  • OAS — read-only mirror of the leader’s OAS view. Stream rail, stage dots, per-requirement list grouped by Plan/Do/Review. Completed requirements show a green check with the completion date.
  • SIAs — per-project view with goal, phase stepper (Goal > Plan > Action > Review > Done), and scrollable stream log. Scouts can post updates to their own SIA stream via a reply bar.
  • Milestones — a radar chart showing progress across developmental areas, plus a term PAL ledger.
  • Peak Awards — pillar-by-pillar progress toward the section’s capstone award.

Patrol (PL/APL only)

Visible only to Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders. Shows:

  • Patrol name, role, and member count
  • Member list with each Scout’s patrol role and PAL breakdown
  • Open Unit Council button (when Unit Council is enabled)

Non-PL/APL Scouts don’t see this tab.

Unit Council

Section titled “Unit Council”

When Unit Council is enabled, Scouts can view Council sessions and participate in planning and ratification votes. Sessions progress through states: Scheduled > In session > Ideas open > Voting > Results > Assignment > Closed.
